Lack of awareness for poor people's education

I just got a news article from gooogle alerts about education for poor people. It informs about lack of awareness for poor people's education. It came from a news website from Indoesia. The link is http://www.lensaindonesia.com/2013/11/26/pendidikan-untuk-masyarakat-miskin-masih-kurang-diperhatikan.html . So, The news is in Indonesian Language.

Briefly, The News tells us about a statement of Agus Supriyanto, a principal of TK SAAJA (Kindergarten that is allocated for poor child).He states that government gives more attention to International standard school rather than poor schools with lack of facilities that are allocated for poor people. He also states that it because the concept of Kindergarten for poor people like his school is still a new thing among the people.

Our Movement

Yout Teaches movement might be one of the solutions that we can do to overcome those problems that are faced by our community. I encourage High School Students in Indonesia to join our movement. We can do something to solve the problem to share our time and knowledges that fortunately can we get because we have more chance to get a lot better education. We might be don't have big authority in education as government do. But we can use all of our resorce that we have, if we want and believe, to make this movement become reality and help our community overcome its problem.

Education for Homeless Kids

I just got an inspiring movements that has a lot of similarities with my idea from Google Alerts. Here is the link http://koran-jakarta.com/index.php/detail/view01/127846 . Unfortunately The News is written in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language). I will write the news briefly in English below

Education for homeless kids is a big problem in Indonesia, especially big cities. It is also a big concern for Shei Latifah. It makes her making a movements named "Save Street Child". She inisiated her movements via twitter account @savestreetchild, May 23rd, 2011. This movement has already metamorphosed to become an independent organization which has a mission to give educations to homeless kids who do not get enough education to prepare their future.

They organize free classes. Before opening the classes, they have already made surveys for the people live surrounding, approaching the people and make a planned program before finally open classes to teach the kids

The Classes have already spread into 17 cities in Indonesia such as Surabaya, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Medan, Makassar, Manado, Palembang, Padang, Madura, Jember, Blitar, Depok, Pasuruan, Malang, Semarang, Solo, dan Mojokerto.
Every Classes are organized by competent volunteers who live near the classes. They teach reading, writing, counting, and also a lot of skills for example making handicrafts that also can be sold and helping the kids to get money. They also make a regular field trip for the students such as going to the zoo and museum.

The volunteers in this organization are a dedicated people who have an idealism to teach and love the homeless kids. They are also given training before become a volunteer about the kids' characteristics and how to teach them as a friend.

This organization can survive because of help from a lot of people who have same idealism and vision about this problem, including the volunteers. This organization also cooperates with other Non-Governmental Organization on the same field, both from Indonesia and also other countries.

Inspiration that I get from this article

This movement or organization is inspired me a lot. They work on the same field as my idea of movement that I want to make. From this movement, I learn how to start a movement using social media such as twitter. I also learn how to recruit volunteer and give them training before becoming a volunteer. And also, How they cooperate with a lot of people and also other Non-Governmental Organizations makes them and their movement become stronger.

"Convey your knowledge even only one sentence!"

Homeless people is one of the biggest problem that is faced by my community now. I live in Jakarta, the biggest city in Indonesia. There are more than 11.000 people who are homeless. Homeless people also consists of a lot of kids who are still underage. Most of them do begging on the street or traffic light instead of go to school because of their poverty. It will make a lot of problems. Their existence on the street will disturb public order. They will also grow with less skill and education that will make them stay in their poverty and will become a new social problem within the community and State.

As a high school student, I have an idea about this problem. I have an idea that every high school in my city open free classes for homeless kids (on elementary or junior high age) one day on weekend or after school. And the student of the high school will become the teacher of them. It will be counted as community service and extra academics credit or score for the students. It will make the homeless kids chance to learn and get education. It also makes them having a positive activity instead of begging on street. So, It also might solve City;s problem to make no beggar on street. It also has a positive effect for the students. They will learn about sympathy, leadership, and also new experience teaching another kids. 

Through this blog and other social media, I want to encourage people who are correlated with my idea to make a great movements. I want to cooperate with people who have authority of the school, such as, school principal, teachers, and staffs. Without their help and cooperation, We can not do the idea and this movement. Indeed, I also want to encourage every students in my age, high school students, to participate in this movement. I want to encourage all of you guys to share your knowledge and make a positive change through this movements together. I believe that youth has a very big power to make a social changes and movements. And, It will be a great chance to do it. "Convey your knowledge even only one sentence!"
